Air Conditioner Electricity Cost

Start with the electrical input in watts from the unit’s label or documentation—not its cooling capacity.

Enter your details

Use electrical input power from the label or a measured average.
Enter a non-negative rate; zero is allowed. The amount is in the selected currency.
Labels amounts only; no exchange-rate conversion is performed.

How the estimate works

Monthly kWh = (input W ÷ 1,000) × hours/day × days × operating percentage. Cost = monthly kWh × rate.

Assumptions and limits

Real consumption changes with cooling demand, inverter controls, room conditions, maintenance and climate. BTU cooling capacity is not electrical input power.

Actual AC consumption varies with cooling demand, inverter technology, room conditions and climate. Cooling capacity in BTU is not the same as electrical input power.

Example

A 1,200 W unit used 8 hours daily for 30 days at a 50% estimated operating share would use 144 kWh. Treat the percentage as an assumption, not a measured duty cycle.
